Lifeline in Darfur: Emergency Kitchens & Winter Aid Amidst the Siege of El Fasher
With El Fasher under siege, Faal is one of the few actors delivering consistent aid. Our emergency kitchens feed thousands daily in displacement camps, while our winterization campaign provides essential warmth to vulnerable children.

The conflict in El Fasher has pushed thousands into famine-like conditions. Faal has responded by operationalizing Emergency Community Kitchens in high-density displacement zones like Golo, Tawila, and Kassab camps. Despite artillery shelling and logistical blockades, our volunteers serve hot meals to hundreds of households daily—often the only meal these families will eat. Recent field data indicates we are serving upwards of 390 families per distribution in camps like Engel and Golo.
Complementing our food relief, we launched the winter initiative "Yalla Nadaffeehum" (Let's Warm Them). As temperatures drop in the desert regions, we distributed heavy blankets and winter clothing to children living in makeshift shelters. This dual approach of fighting hunger and cold demonstrates Faal's agility and unwavering commitment to the people of Darfur during their darkest hour.

Sharing the Blessing: Faal’s Qurbani Campaign Reaches Thousands Across Sudan
Amidst economic hardship, Faal ensured the tradition of Qurbani continued for those who needed it most. Our 2025 Eid campaign delivered fresh meat packs to displaced families across Sudan and refugee camps in Chad, spreading joy and essential nutrition.

Eid Al-Adha is synonymous with sacrifice and sharing. This year, Faal prioritized reaching "hard-to-access" areas to ensure equitable distribution of Qurbani meat. Operations spanned from the eastern Red Sea state to the conflict-ridden regions of Darfur and Kordofan. Specific focus was placed on displacement centers (IDP camps) where malnutrition rates are rising.
Through the generous contributions of our donors, livestock was sourced locally—supporting local markets—and distributed as fresh meat packs to thousands of beneficiaries. Reports from the field confirm we reached For example: 210 families in Kadugli, 153 in Rabak, 300 families in Al-Obeid, and 500 families in the outskirts of Al-Obeid and Al-Ban Jadid., and hundreds more in the Adré refugee camps. This campaign reflects our core mission: providing dignified aid that nourishes both the body and the spirit of the Sudanese community.

Beyond Seasonal Aid: Food Baskets Reach Sennar, White Nile, and Kordofan
Consistency is key in humanitarian aid. Faal continued its food security operations through July and August, delivering essential food baskets to isolated IDP communities in Sennar, Dilling, and White Nile.

While emergency appeals often grab headlines, the steady, ongoing support keeps families alive. Faal’s Food Basket Project continued operations well into the lean season of 2025, targeting specific clusters of displaced people who have little access to aid.
Our field reports confirm successful distributions in:
Sennar State: Reaching 90 families in Sennar city and 30 families in the Al-Salam IDP Camp.
White Nile: Delivering aid to 31 households in the Shabasha/Ariek area.
South Kordofan: Penetrating the hard-to-access city of Dilling to support 20 vulnerable families.
These baskets, filled with flour, oil, and staples, provide a critical buffer against famine for families living on the edge of survival.

Rapid Response in Kordofan: Feeding 8,500 IDPs Fleeing to El-Obeid
When displacement struck Al-Nuhud, Faal was the first responder in El-Obeid. Over a critical 72-hour window, our emergency kitchens served hot meals to over 1,300 families arriving in "Al-Ban Jadeed".

The sudden influx of displaced persons from Al-Nuhud and Al-Khuwai into North Kordofan required immediate action. Faal mobilized its local volunteers to establish emergency reception points and kitchens in El-Obeid and Al-Ban Jadeed.
Our operation ran around the clock for three days aiming to catch families as they arrived. We served 560 households on Day 1, scaling up to 617 on Day 2, and concluding the initial wave with 154 on Day 3. In total, 1,331 families (approx. 8,504 individuals) received life-sustaining hot meals. This rapid intervention highlights Faal’s capacity to scale operations instantly when new displacement fronts open.
Revitalizing Healthcare: Critical Equipment Support for Hospitals and Clinics
With Sudan's healthcare sector nearly paralyzed, Faal is stepping in to bridge the gap. We have successfully delivered and installed essential medical equipment in dialysis centers and rural clinics across six states, serving tens of thousands.

While emergency aid is vital, sustainable healthcare support is crucial for long-term survival. Faal has successfully executed multiple projects aimed at equipping functional health centers with modern medical devices. Our interventions ranged from supporting kidney dialysis centers in Atbara to fully equipping rural clinics in Blue Nile (Wad Al-Mahi) and Gezira, which serve catchment populations exceeding 15,000 people each.
These strategic contributions, backed by dedicated philanthropists, ensure that critical care remains accessible even in the midst of war. By supporting facilities in active zones like Khartoum and Omdurman, as well as safe havens hosting IDPs, Faal is helping to prevent the total collapse of the medical safety net for Sudan's most vulnerable citizens.

Completing the Fast: Widespread Zakat al-Fitr Distribution Across Sudan & Chad

600 families +

As Ramadan 2025 concluded, Faal mobilized a massive logistical operation to deliver Zakat al-Fitr—the obligatory charity of breaking the fast—to those most in need. Supported by the Islamic Center Vienna, our teams distributed locally consumed staples (such as wheat, millet, and corn) to ensure families could prepare their traditional Eid meals.
The reach was extensive: from the coastal cities of Port Sudan and Tokar (supporting 600 families) to the conflict-ridden neighborhoods of Al-Kadru in Khartoum and El Fasher in Darfur. We also supported IDPs in El-Obeid and White Nile, and refugees in Adré, Chad. By delivering these essential food supplies on time, Faal helped restore a sense of normalcy and dignity to over 2,500 households during the festive season.

Ramadan 2025 Relief: Delivering Food Security Across Conflict Lines
Hunger should not prevent anyone from observing the holy month. Faal, in partnership with the Islamic Center Vienna, executed a multi-regional campaign delivering food baskets, hot meals, and Zakat al-Fitr to thousands of displaced families across Sudan and Chad.
The humanitarian crisis in Sudan demands a sustained and organized response, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. Faal launched a comprehensive food security operation targeting vulnerable households in conflict zones like Omdurman and Al-Nuhud, as well as displacement camps in White Nile and across the border in Chad. Our strategy moved beyond simple handouts; we established community kitchens to provide hot, nutritious Iftar meals and distributed heavy-duty food baskets designed to sustain families for weeks.
Supported by our partners on the ground, including Hadhreen, we successfully executed the "Zakat al-Fitr" distribution, ensuring families had the staple grains needed to celebrate Eid with dignity. The logistics involved navigating complex security challenges, yet the result was clear: thousands of beneficiaries served and a lifeline of hope extended from Vienna to Sudan. This campaign underscores our commitment to leaving no one behind, regardless of the circumstances.
